Welcome to Lewisham DCS website.

About Us

Lewisham DCS are affiliated to the NDCS (National Deaf Children's Society) which allows us to make use of their resources, information and experience. The group was formed by parents and family members to give deaf children a place to interact with other children that are hearing aid users, signers or wear cochlear implants.

We also aim to provide a place for parents and carers to meet with each other in a relaxing, welcoming and supportive environment whilst our children learn and have fun.

Here you can find out Who's who, a little bit more about the people involved, why we started LDCS under fives and who else is involved

Our playgroup

The sessions currently consist of sing and sign, arts and crafts, free play with toys and paints and cold cooking e.g making fruit salads and pancakes faces using fruit.

As well as fun things for the children to do we also provide information about all aspects of hearing impairment for parents and when possible offer a member from the NDCS to give advice and support for families regarding:

  • Issues around deafness.
  • Choosing a provision for your child.
  • The statementing process.
